Hassan was raised as the servants set out and ameer the son of the wealthy man. Hassan being the servants son was raised to serve Amir even idea they are a couple of years apart, Hassan is younger. Amir and Hassan go through difficult moments because of a bully named Assef from Amirs sch ool. Amir being older than Hassan is a wimp that is eer being scared of Assef.
